Alexandria, VA – The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA®) recently announced the creation of a new initiative called the Innovation Center.

The NCPA Innovation Center was commissioned to accelerate the growth and impact of independent pharmacies.

PioneerRx President, Jeff Key, was selected with twelve other industry executives to serve on the board of directors. The board of directors will help lead the Innovation Center’s efforts to share ideas and develop strategies to further innovate the independent pharmacy industry.

Innovation Center Board Chairman and NCPA CEO B. Douglas Hoey, RPh, MBA, describes how each member of the board will make an impact within the Innovation Center.

“The members of the Innovation Center Board of Directors are among those who have demonstrated a strong commitment to and support of NCPA and who have proactively sought to provide their expertise and experience for the benefit of independent community pharmacies,” says Hoey.

The board consists of pharmacy owners, organization leaders, and vendor representatives all selected by NCPA to carry out its vision for the Innovation Center.

The best are focused on the positive impact that their frequent patient contact can have on, not only optimal medication use, but on even broader measures including lowering total cost of care, avoiding unnecessary emergency room visits, and reducing hospital readmission rates,” continues Hoey.
“With input and direction from its stellar Board of Directors, the NCPA Innovation Center will assist these pharmacy owners to understand how they and other health care providers are and will be measured in a value and quality driven market.”
